Les Poésies de G. Schehadé

Les Poésies by Georges Schehadé is a slim book of poetry spanning half a century of writing (from 1938 to 1985). These poems reveal a rare voice full of a natural grace, of a fragile evidence that is seductive, inspired by Lebanon but also by Saint-John Perse, Supervielle and the Surrealists. This voice in between shores is inscribed between the accomplishment of an ancient land and the modern disorientation of the poetic landscape, between the childhood dream and the inescapable course of time, between exile and the promise that is always renewed. A voice that will also find in Schehadé’s theatre a space of accomplishment where it expresses the dream of a completely new season.
